Keen to try something a bit different? Wondering how you'll make it through the dark winter days? Come and try a range of simple but effective creative exercises to warm your heart, mind and soul. This course will cater for all ages and abilities. The sessions will include time for yourself and also exercises to connect with others.

Gagana Samoa for Everyone

8 Thursday nights - Starts on 9 May from 6-8pm

Samoan Language is amazingly easy to learn. Learn to understand and use familiar Samoan everyday expressions. Those who attended last term may re enrolled and new people can also join. A condition of enrolment on this course is that you will attend at least 80% of the sessions. The first time you enrol, you'll need to provide your National Student Number (NSN) or, if you don't have one, email a copy of your passport or birth certificate as proof of your NZ citizenship or residency to [email protected].

LANDLORDS MASTERCLASS (Sundays)

2 Sundays - 16th & 23rd June

If you are a landlord, you’ve faced a lot of changes. This class will help you sharpen up your performance as a landlord so you are getting the best from your property investment AND being a great landlord to your tenants. Jackie Thomas-Teague is an experienced landlord, property manager, teacher, and recognised in the Rent Skills Highly Commended category 2023 (formerly ‘Landlord of the Year’) and will help you deal with tricky areas, things you don’t enjoy, or are not confident about, as well as making sure you are meeting all your obligations. This is a safe environment to talk about all things landlord-related, so no matter your experience and skill level, you are bound to get something valuable out of it, and have fun doing it. Jackie welcomes questions before class so she can tailor the content to match your specific needs’.

SAVING FAMILY MEMORIES:

Tutor/Facilitator: Nicola Kane
3 Wednesday nights - Starts on 29 May from 7-9pm

EVERYONE has a story worth sharing. This class will inspire you to start saving family stories and memories for future generations. Most family history is recorded in documents and photographs, but there are many stories and memories that are not recorded and will be lost or forgotten if they are not saved. You will use old photographs as prompts, and create a timeline of key life events that you wish to document. The main focus is on using video & audio to record stories and memories, but the same principles can be applied to writing a personal memoir.

SELF DEFENCE: Krav Maga(Age 15+)

Tutor/Facilitator: Peter Kani
1 Saturday afternoon - On 15 June from 12noon -3pm

Krav Maga (contact combat) is a self-defence system developed by the Israeli Defence Force. Its application and efficiency in the real world has been proven to be highly effective by law enforcement agencies, protection services, and the military. The 3 hour session will be at an introductory level and will focus on civilian self defence. Unlike the military or police, the main intent for civilian krav maga is to: Minimise harm to oneself, stop the escalation of conflict by defending in a decisive manner, and also by escaping quickly at the very first opportunity

THE TREE OF LIFE

Tutor/Facilitator: Liz Langham
1 Saturday morning - 11 May 9:30am - 12pm

The ‘Tree of Life’ is a beautiful process drawn from narrative therapy which has been used with people all over the world. The facilitators will support you to map out your life story in a way which is honouring and strengthening. We will then share our stories in a way that is safe and uplifting, helping us to improve our resilience and wellbeing. Suitable for people of all ages and abilities. No artistic skills are required and all materials will be provided.
