INDIAN STREET FOOD

Create a range of delicious and nutritious finger food dishes that you would find being sold by street vendors in India. Examples are Spicy Allo Tikki (potato cakes) Vegetables sausages ( spicy crispy mixed vegetables Cocktail Samosas ( tender chicken wrapped spring roll) Corn Baskets (sweet corn , capsicum onion in bread baskets)

Musical Keyboard Skills:

Learn to use the musical keyboard. One hour individual and group tuition plus practice time using the schools' electronic keyboards. Usually split into 2 groups with start times of either 6.30 or 7.30pm. Please bring your own headphones.

New Zealand Sign Language: Level 1A (Monday)

For those who want an introduction to NZ Sign Language then join this beginner class. Units 1-3 will be covered. A condition of enrolment on this course is that you will attend at least 80% of the sessions. The first time you enrol, you'll need to provide your National Student Number (NSN) or, if you don't have one, email a copy of your passport or birth certificate as proof of your NZ citizenship or residency to [email protected]

Orchestra

32 Monday nights - Starts 12 February from 7:30-9:30pm

The Tawa Orchestra is a community orchestra that attracts players of all ages and walks of life. No audition required – minimum standard Grade V. You will learn the dynamics of being part of a full orchestra including rehearsal techniques, sectionals, and performance. The Tawa Orchestra will perform at least 3 concerts throughout the year and may include collaborations with other community groups and visiting artists. New members can join at any time. Inquire about the fee if you are starting during the year. Concert dates confirmed for 2024 are: Sunday 24th March, Saturday 3rd August and Sunday 24th November.

POTTERY: Wheel Work Intermediate (July) **FULL**

8 Monday nights (no class 9 Sept, must attend 16 Sept) - 22 July - 16 September 2024 from 7-9:30pm

**THIS COURSE IS NOW FULL** This course is only for those students who have completed at least one Beginners Wheelwork class or have an equivalent amount of wheel throwing experience. The aim of the course is to extend students who can already centre and throw a basic cylinder, and will provide tuition to begin making pieces that are larger and with more complex shapes, such as vases, jugs, pots with lids and types of serving dishes. Please note that glazing will be done on the final week, so it is essential that students can attend on that evening as there are no alternative opportunities to glaze work. The costs for clay, firing and glazing materials are extra and will vary depending on how much a student makes. Please bring $50 materials deposit payable in cash to the tutor on the first night. Some students may not use all this deposit however productive students may be required to pay more. This class is held at Gear Homestead Woolshed Potters clubrooms, Gear Homestead, Okowai Road Porirua and is for ADULTS ONLY.

POTTERY: Wheelwork for Beginners (April) **FULL**

Students learn to centre clay on the wheel and the basics of throwing the foundation shapes of cylinders and bowls. QI GONG FLOW

8 Monday nights - Starts 6 May from 5.30 - 6.30 pm

THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL. This class will be an exciting fusion of gentle, flowing, focused movements and breath, combined with energy medicine techniques, as well as myofascial tissue stretches. In this class movement is medicine. Qi Gong practice promotes health of the body and mind through focus and intention. The movements will also stretch the body and build greater awareness of how the body moves through space, without any challenge to the cardiovascular system. Qi Gong exercise is a powerful addition towards achieving wellbeing. The class will allow you to restore balance to the body energetically as well as to cultivate vitality. The class is open to everyone. Will be done in standing with some floor / mat work.
