ESOL

Sewing - Beginners Introduction

Tutor/Facilitator: Joyce Tam
8 Wednesday evenings - Starts on 11 February from 6:30 - 8:30pm

This class caters for the sewer who has no or very little sewing experience, it is also suitable for ESOL students. The course begins with an introduction to sewing equipment and the sewing machine (threading up and winding a bobbin). To learn the basics of sewing you will make a pin cushion and then a tote bag prior to being encouraged to choose another project that will help develop your sewing skills. This can include envelope cushion covers, apron, pillowcases or elasticized waist skirt/trouser or pyjama pant. The course will also cover information on what to look for when purchasing a first sewing machine. The school can provide scissors and sewing machines; all students need to bring their own sewing kit (a list will be sent out by the tutor after enrolment) At the first class, you will need to provide your National Student Number (NSN) or, if you don't have one, please bring your passport or birth certificate as proof of your NZ citizenship or residency.

Fees: NZ$75 - This fee applies to NZ residents, anyone else please contact us before enrolling
