SEWING: Beginners Plus

This course has been specifically designed for sewers who know how to sew but now need to build confidence working through a pattern and learning some essential techniques to construct a first garment in a supported environment.
The beginning class covers suitable fabric types, measuring the body, pattern formats (all pattern formats - hardcopy, digital, PDF are supported in this class), understanding pattern information, laying out patterns on fabric, understanding grainline and the sewing sequence for different garments.
The student will bring to the first class, ideas (images, online references, pattern) for their first sewing project (think: Skirt, Trouser, Home Items (Apron, Bags, Cushion Covers), Shift Dress, Loose Fitting Top) and if possible fabric swatches for consultation with the tutor.
Sewing Machines, overlockers, scissors are available for use during class, please bring your own sewing kit (a list of items can be sent out on enrolment if requested).
