Moving Memories was started in February 2021, after 2 years of producing promotional business brand videos in my Love2Video business.  I’ve been a small business owner in NZ for over 15 years working in IT training, website design, technical writing and communications.

Everyone has a story.

After losing my dear Dad at just 78 years young in 2018 without saving his story, I decided to help families preserve their family stories - using the visual medium of video.  I was already creating business brand story videos, so it was easy to add family stories to the mix.

Too many stories get lost when our family members pass away, and by saving stories and memories on video it helps keeps the stories alive – and families get to see and hear the stories directly from the storyteller.  They get to experience the voices, facial expressions, intonation and personality of their loved ones.

Everyone should have the opportunity to save stories and precious memories so they don’t get lost or forgotten.

You don’t have to wait until you’re in your 60’s or 70’s to start either – the earlier you start the better.  Life has many different seasons, and things change as the decades roll on during our life journeys.  Values change, people change, perspectives change and even memories can change.   I encourage you to capture ALL the different seasons of your life.

You can find out more about the story and memory saving work I do, including example clips from some real life story memoirs, on my website www.movingmemories.nz

Remember, your family wants to inherit your stories – not your stuff.

SAVING FAMILY MEMORIES:
3 Wednesday nights - Starts on 29 May from 7-9pm

EVERYONE has a story worth sharing. This class will inspire you to start saving family stories and memories for future generations. Most family history is recorded in documents and photographs, but there are many stories and memories that are not recorded and will be lost or forgotten if they are not saved. You will use old photographs as prompts, and create a timeline of key life events that you wish to document. The main focus is on using video & audio to record stories and memories, but the same principles can be applied to writing a personal memoir.
