We will start in a circle going over the outline of the day and a brief overview of mindfulness along with intention setting, before shifting into silent practice.
At each point along the way, there will be gentle guidance to help you transition and move from one practice to the next with brief pauses for self-reflection.
Together we will practice: breathing meditation; a laying down body scan; a walking meditation; a mindful eating exercise and lunch break; gentle movement and stretching through a simple yoga series, sound meditation, self-compassion practices and a loving kindness meditation.
We will end the day back in circle and break our silence as a group, through some optional sharing and reflection.
This is an experiential, trauma informed workshop; choices and options are provided and honoured and all participation is voluntary. This is suitable for all ages and fitness ability and any level of experience with mindfulness meditation. All instructions can be modified to suit your needs, body and abilities. We will be using the floor and mats, the wall as support and chairs as options for all our practices.
Please bring:
Pen and paper/journal
A mat (yoga or exercise mat to sit on) and any cushions, bolsters or blankets you may need
Wear layered, comfortable clothing
Water and a packed lunch (we will practice mindful eating)
And anything else you may need to feel comfortable.
I also recommend limiting distractions and refraining from using your cell phone during this entire practice period to feel the full benefits of tuning inwards and having a period of inner and outer silence.
"The answers you seek never come when the mind is busy, they come when the mind is still, when silence speaks loudest.” — Leon Brown
