Alexis MurtiIn early 2010 I came along to one of Mindi Clews (a New Zealand Cheese Master), cheese making workshops to learn how to make Brie. The workshop was present from my husband, and the next step in our family's journey to live the good life. After completing this course there was no turning back for me!
CHEESE MAKING: Halloumi & Ricotta
1 Saturday morning - On 22 March from 9am-12pm You make the cheese at this intensely practical DIY 'hands-in' workshop because the key to good cheese making is knowing how the cheese should look and, most importantly, how it should feel at different points in it's creation. During this three hour hands-on workshop, you will be guided through the cheese making process while you make your own Halloumi and Ricotta which you will be able to take home and show off at the end! CHEESEMAKING - FETA & QUESO FRESCO
1 Sunday - 16 March, 9am - 1:30pm The ultimate class in practical cheese making! Learn all you need to know to replicate making Feta and Queso Fresco at home. You will be guided through each step of the cheesemaking process while making your very own round of Feta. While the Feta is setting (don't worry, all terminology will be explained!), we will make Queso Fresco together. All ingredients are provided as are recipes and detailed handouts to take away with you. Bring a pen to take notes, a 2 litre container (an ice-cream container is ideal) and plastic re-sealable food bags to take your cheese home. During the workshop, the following topics will also be covered: Milk and where to source it, hygiene and sanitation, equipment required and the origins of the cheeses you are about to make. You will also receive instruction on how to brine your cheese the following day. A small break will be provided, and you will have the opportunity to purchase equipment and cheesemaking ingredients after the workshop should you wish to replicate the experience at home. |
