Tutor/Facilitator: Don Franks 8 Wednesday nights - Starts on 12 February from 7-9pm
This course will show beginners how to form basic chords and use them to accompany a range of songs.
Students will learn several different strums and a simple but effective finger picking technique. Bring your own guitar.
Intermediate students will work on the same material, but learning and using more advanced playing methods.
You will have at least one hour tutor contact time with beginners and intermediate split into different sessions on the first night.

During this course....
During this upcoming eight week entry level course course students will:
1/ Learn to place and change first position chords
2/ Begin to form and master the most essential ‘bar chords’ in the most accessible way.
3/ Learn several different strums and picking patterns.
4/ Build a repertoire of songs you can accompany, including songs of your choice.
5/ Be shown good practice and laying habits and a useful all-round finger exercise.
6/ Begin reading tablature notation and play a good sounding instrumental piece
7/ Be taught the use of a capo and the most effective way to use a pick.
8/ Learn some little tricks to make your playing sound professional.
You will also, through playing regularly with others each week, develop your timing and rapport with other musicians, essential skills required for being in a band.
Students who've taken this approach have successfully gone from not being able to play at all to becoming a musician.
All prices are in New Zealand dollars.
